HALLE BERRY is designing a footwear collection for German chain Deichmann, due to land in stores this March. The actress follows in the footsteps of Cindy Crawford, who created a range for the same retailer last summer.

'Women have always loved shoes," said Berry in a statement. "It's like if your hair is not right and your shoes are not right, the woman is not right. If both of them are right, you're pretty much OK. And shoes are a statement. They can be very sexy; they can say something about where you are in the day; they can say what your mood is; they give you a chance to accessorise."

 The collection, entitled Fifth Avenue by Halle Berry, includes flat sandals, as well as open and peep-toe wedges. Prices start at £29.99.

 "We are very pleased that Halle Berry is our new partner," said the store's owner Heinrich Deichmann. "She is an internationally renowned artist and a global style icon."
