Kokosalaki Bridal
SOPHIA KOKOSALAKI is launching her first ever bridal collection, exclusively on Net-A-Porter, this February - and the Greek-born designer revealed she took to the challenge with ease."Natalie Massenet suggested that I design a bridal collection, and I actually find it easier than designing the mainline for my label," she told us. "You can just focus on the dresses; not think about trends or anything - and just make beautiful pieces."
Beautiful they certainly are: named after classical Greek heroines and delicately draped, pin-tucked and pleated in a way that has become Kokosalaki's signature in 12 years of designing for her eponymous line; Vionnet; and subsequently Diesel Black Gold. The designer took her inspiration from trademark shapes of traditional Haute Couture, as well as the fluidity of ancient Greek sculptures, to create a collection balancing lightness and movement with the kind of swoon-factor that every bride-to-be is looking for.
And, while Kokosalaki shows her own line in Paris - and her Diesel offering in New York - it is still London that's at the heart of her creative vision.
"I still eat lunch in Broadway Market every day, I love to sit and people-watch," she told us. "I love London."
